HEY, MY PEEPS! IT'S A NEW YEAR! IT'S A NEW DAY! IT'S A NEW BOOK!
I am proud to announce the rebroadcast of my author interview about my novel Valerie's Retreat on TheAuthorsShow.com. The interview is being broadcast again on 3/25/14 on the show page at http://www.wnbnetworkwest.com/WnbAuthorsShow.html. My thanks to Don McCauley and all the crew at The Authors Show for a fun, relaxed, entertaining interview. Take a listen!
When you've finished listening to the interview, and your appetite for a Romantic Thriller has been whetted, go to Amazon and take a "Look In" to read the first chapter of the novel.
Here's just a "taste":
The DJ played several more songs
before he decided to pack it in for the evening. Janet and Valerie took Franco
home. Valerie walked with him up to his apartment door.
"Would it be all right if I
called you sometime?" he asked nervously.
"That would be fine,"
she smiled. "Do you have a pen to write down my number?"
"Come on in, I’ll find one
real quick so Janet doesn’t have to wait very long for you."
"Relax, Franco, she doesn’t
mind waiting."
He held the door for her to enter
first. To her relief and surprise, this bachelor pad struck her as being as
clean and tidy as her own apartment. So far, no red flag with this guy, she
thought.
He grabbed a pen and paper off the
coffee table and took down her number. They lightly kissed good night.
The instant Valerie shut the car
door Janet practically screamed, "What the hell are you doing?! He’s about
fourteen years old!"
"Oh, puh-leez!" a giddy,
giggling Valerie shot back.
"You’ll have to teach him how
to drive in a few years!"
"Janet, you’re just jealous."
"Damn right I’m jealous! Did
you make a man of him while you were in his apartment?" Janet howled with
laughter.
"Not yet." Valerie
smiled.
"So when are you two going
out?"
"He said he’ll call me."
"You know what that means
Val. No man ever calls when he says he will."
"I know. Whatever; if he
calls, great; if not, no big deal," she said, resigned to the truth of
Janet’s words.
"Did you ever find out how
old he is?"
"No, Janet." She looked
at her friend with mock disapproval. "I couldn’t think of a way to bring
it up tactfully. How old’s Charlie or whatever his name was that you threw
yourself at?"
"I don’t know, but he’s
obviously a few years older than that child you clung to."
"I bet he’ll be man enough
for me," Valerie giggled again.
"With that school-girl squealing,
you sound as young as he IS!"
Janet pulled up in front of
Valerie’s apartment, and Valerie got out. "Thanks for dragging me to that
dance. It was fun."
"No problem, chicky, we’ll
just have to wait and see if your young forbidden fruit calls you."
"Well, Janet, in the unlikely event he calls, his
fruit won’t be forbidden." Valerie smiled shutting the car door. Now that you've had a chance to sample the book, what do you think? It's an intriguing story of a May-December romance, only the gender roles have changed. Valerie's no "Cougar", but she's certainly not above involving herself with a man 16 years her junior. How do they meet? What draws them to each other? Is the attraction purely physical? What happens to them when their lives go inexplicably wrong?
Read Valerie's Retreat and find out the answers to these questions, and follow Valerie and her "boy toy", Franco, as they hatch a plan to abandon their angst-filled lives and re-invent themselves.

INTERVIEW WITH CAROLYN ARNOLD -
WHAT IS THE #AOD TOUR?
I’m the best-selling author of the Madison Knight series, and the Brandon Fisher FBI series. I was born in 1976 in a rural town of Ontario, Canada. I currently live with my husband and two beagles in a city near the well-known Canadian center Toronto.
A few random things about me on a personal level:
1) I married a man who is truly my best friend. With us I believe in “meant to be”.
2) I have two beagles. Their names are Max and Chelsea, and I couldn’t imagine not having their little furry bodies around. (Suppose the same goes for my hubby. lol)
3) I love to read almost as much as I love to write.
4) I tried skiing once as an adult and decided the “bunny hill” worked just fine. With most things in life, I aim to excel and improve. With this sport, no desire at all. Risk my life speeding down a hill on little slats of wood? No thank you.
5) I was reunited with my older sister after being apart for 13 years and found a good friend.

It has been an interesting year - I've released three books in paperback, one of those in both ebook and paperback just this year; the other two were already in ebook format. I've posted, Facebooked, tweeted, LinkedIn'd, done freebies, giveaways, interviews, solicited reviews, worked with a PR firm, asked advice from techies, other authors, reviewers, readers, friends and family, and slaved over a hot computer for hours on end trying to get word out about my novels. I didn't realize when I started this journey that being an author who works full-time is really like having three full-time jobs: the one that pays me, the one I love (writing), and the one that wears me out (marketing)! I have learned so much from authors, bloggers, reviewers, and others on FB especially who support and encourage each other and understand the struggle. The main thing I've learned is that you have to believe in yourself and the stories you tell. And I do!
Because you have been so kind, you authors, you bloggers, you reviewers, you FB friends, you "sharers", you "likers", you "tweeters" and "retweeters", and all the rest of you, I say a very sincere THANK YOU, and I want to wish you and yours a wonderful, peaceful, happy, and loving holiday season.
THANK YOU!
Joe

A MORMON MASSACRE - Amazon Reviewers LOVE It!
Here's the latest awesome review (by Dixie Miller Goode) of my new novel release, A Mormon Massacre, now available on Amazon in Kindle or paperback format!
Spying on the Temple By Pandorasecho "Dixie"
"Because I had previously read and reviewed one of Joseph Rinaldo's novels, "Hazardous Choices," he offered me a kindle copy of this one to read. I was hesitant, not because I didn't think I would enjoy the book, but because I have a lot of friends who are Mormon and I knew that any favorable review of a book called "A Mormon Massacre" would possibly offend my friends. Still, I loved Mr. Rinaldo's writing and I agreed to read it, but did not promise a review.
This book starts with a well researched, historical massacre of everyone but the very youngest children in a large wagon train, at Mountain Meadows, Utah. This happened as the country was entering the turmoil of the civil war era and ended up not being investigated as completely as it might have at another time in history. The fictional novel itself deals with a young man entering a Mormon group as an inserted "spy" in the modern world. There is a connection to the massacre, but the real story is what is happening deep within the highest, most secret groups in the inner temples of modern Salt Lake City and in an empty barn where a secret army demands blood atonement from heretics and unfaithful women.
I loved the intensity of this novel, and the well written story carried me along so that I avoided a few other books I already had started in favor of finding out what would happen next here. I know my Mormon friends would not love this book, but in all honesty, Mr. Rinaldo creates modern Mormons who are realistic and multi-dimensional. He clearly shows the kindness and concern and humanity of most of the members, while also showing the manipulation and insanity in his villain. Of course his villain, a fictional person, happens to be the head of the Mormon Church. His insanity is complete but it progresses along such a natural path that he pulls his followers along that road much farther than they would have ever expected to go.
What I love most about this novel is the characters within it. Each is so complete and well crafted that it becomes hard to believe they are fictional characters. I had to care about them, and love them or hate them. There was no way to put down this book and stop reading once I had entered its pages."
I am so proud of my new book, and I would like to offer my blog readers the opportunity to read and review it. Just post a comment here, and I will be in touch!
THANKS, Dixie!

COURTING CONTROVERSY!
The release of my new novel, A Mormon Massacre, has created quite a controversy. Some believe I am trying to destroy the Mormon Church, some believe I am trying to take advantage of the upcoming election by releasing it now (DUH!), and some think I am just a crackpot who likes to rant. What do you think? Read A Mormon Massacre, now available on Amazon, and make up your own mind! http://www.amazon.com/A-MORMON-MASSACRE-ebook/dp/B008R26S18/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1344944610&sr=8-2&keywords=a+mormon+massacre
